SVRA at COTA 2024

SVRA at COTA 2024

It was time for my annual tradition of attending the SVRA series making their stop at COTA. With this taking place in the fall, the unpredictable weather went from cold to warm, and from sunny to rainy. It made for some great racing as teams are scrambling to adjust to the constant changes.

Being positioned on turn one of the Circuit of the Americas, I could see the drivers underestimating the amount of grip available when cold weather meets cold tires and elevation change. Some were able to catch it at full steering wheel lock, while others had collected their embarrassing moment for the weekend.

With all the different categories in the racing event, there was such a variety of race cars to enjoy. The SVRA weekend was the stage for the F4 America finals and Trans Am series race. It was also the first time I got to see the Rush Auto Works open cockpit cars out on track. For me, the stars for me are still the 70s muscle cars ranging from Mustangs, Corvettes, Camaros, and even a BMW “Batmobile.”

If you’re looking for the best race value, you can’t beat the SVRA weekend. The access you have in the paddock adds to the greatness of this series. As always, I can’t wait till the next SVRA race at Circuit of the Americas and i may even consider traveling to a different track for next year.
