2022 Buick Envision Avenir Review: Big Compact fun
The 2022 Buick Envision Avenir was one of those cars that surprised me after driving it for a week. The maroon look to the rich garnet metallic color option was simply stunning. You’ll need to shell out for the flagship Avenir trim to have it as an option, but it is well worth it. One of the most impressive things in the Envision were the enhanced LED functionality headlamps. They adjusted to wherever you turned your the steering wheel to make sure you path was illuminated.
The 20” wheels weren’t as impressive in the rather dull looking nickel finish. The black wheels from the Sport Touring package would’ve been better but unfortunately you can’t have both. Braking in the Envision was incredible and put some sports cars and high end braking systems to shame. The pedal feedback was excellent and confidence inducing.
Getting inside will show you the classic looking whisper beige seats. They sport a vertical diamond stitching pattern along with the Avenir embroidered on the headrests. Although this Envision has the heated and cooled options, this press car didn’t have them installed due to parts shortage.
Under the hood, the 2.0L turbocharged inline 4-cylinder acts bigger than it is. Before I opened the hood, I was thinking this had a larger displacement 4-cylinder or even a 6-cylinder. The power delivery was very smooth from the turbo. The model I had was the front wheel drive and there is also an all wheel drive option. At 228 horsepower and 258 lb.-ft. of torque, I think the all wheel drive option may take away from the sportiness compared to the front wheel drive model.
Overall I was was impressed and enjoyed my week with the Buick Envision Avenir.
