SPL Porsche Club of America at Circuit of the Americas 2017
Driving in the rain can sometimes be a scary situation. Now, try doing that at speeds over 100mph. That’s what we experienced at the Porsche Club of America Club Race at Circuit of the Americas.
During the March 3-5th weekend, we managed to schedule our filming on the only day with the heaviest rain forecast. We chased three cars with our cameras, while they chased the checkered flag. The first car, Jan Sotelo’s black Porsche 981 Cayman, ran in the GTB2 Class. The other cars were Jay Matus’ black 2003 Porsche 911 996 model, which shared the GT3 class with Ryan Rounkle in the white 2004 Porsche 911 996 GT3. Ryan ended up winning all three races that weekend.
Race car drivers focus on suspension and braking, before even thinking of engine and power mods. This team was no different and all three cars ran SPL Parts suspension components. The SPL Parts made a significant difference, when I overheard a conversation with SPL Parts owner, Sean Farrah,
“The suspension parts, and how we’ve been able to dial them in, have made it easier for us to get on the throttle a lot earlier than before.”
Be sure to check out our video and photo coverage to see the SPL parts on the track. Visit SPL Parts for all of your suspension needs.
