Porsche Austin Panamera Launch Party
Recently, we were invited to Porsche Austin for the Panamera Super Turismo and Panamera 4 E-Hybrid launch party and reveal.
Now, I’ll be the first to admit that I wasn’t a huge fan of the Panamera when it was first released, but I’ve grown to love it.
It’s like when you buy a band’s album. Of course, you still buy the full albums, and then skip over certain songs, because it doesn’t have the instant appeal of the album’s single. This is how I feel about the Porsche 911 GT2 RS. Then there’s that one time when you let the song play and appreciate why the song is on the band’s album. Let’s break down what makes the Panamera a strong contender for a chart topper.
The Panamera Super Turismo instantly greets with an unmistakable profile and a sleek roofline. This is the intro. Its subtle hatch wing has the same appeal of a 911 whale tale.
If you’re singing the tune of the Panamera, its verse can be found in the subtleties within the exterior. For the E-Hybrid, you’ll get an orchestration of the Porsche color acid green on all the badges and the brake calipers to set it apart from the standard Panamera trims.
The Panamera’s chorus section is its impeccable interior. The E-Hybrid model’s seats brought great comfort and style to the interior. The added detail of the acid green clock hands was also a nice continuation of the exterior details.
For the second verse for the Panamera cars, let’s talk some numbers that make this a great arrangement. Twin Turbos are attached to both the Panamera 4 E-Hybrid and the Turbo model V6 and V8 engine respectively. The V6 gets the help of a 136hp electric motor to make up for the 2 less cylinders. The 8-speed Porsche Doppelkupplung, or PDK transmission, sends power to the Porsche Traction Management (PTM) active all-wheel drive.
You’ll catch on with the Panamera’s hook. It goes from 0-60mph in 4.4 and has a 172mph top speed for the E-hybrid. The Turbo Super Turismo sings 0-60 in 3.6 seconds and a top speed of 188mph. Are you ready to get to know and love the Panamera, too?
