Kia Seltos SX Turbo AWD: Mellow Yellow or Sunbright Yellow
Let’s talk about the 2021 Kia Seltos SX Turbo AWD. When we saw the launch of the Kia Seltos, we thought “Just another CUV, compact utility vehicle, crossover, or whatever they’re being called this week.” Then we kept seeing more and more commercials and started to like the way it looked.
The color we kept seeing was no mellow yellow, in fact it’s actually called starbright yellow and it really shines like a star. It not only shines in the literal sense, but it also is a great overall car. When we start with the lighting. it’s got multiple LED systems starting with the LED light bar used as daytime running light. The headlights are also LED with a swooping angular design and if that isn’t enough light output for you, you can also activate the LED fog lights.
Once you get inside, you see some common Kia styling cues and some new ones. The steering wheel shape and button layout was the same of other Kias but the driving feedback was better than the other Kias I’ve reviewed. Then seats were extremely surprising by being both comfortable yet have racing seat like high side bolsters should you want to drive it through twisty roads.
With the Smart drive mode, the Kia Seltos was smart to behave the way my right foot directed it to. If you decide to behave, the Seltos’ 1.6L Turbo 4-cylinder will behave and try to conserve gas. If you see a fun road and you give it some gas, the Seltos will switch to sport mode and use the 7 gear dual clutch auto transmission to keep the turbo spinning. The only thing we missed was the lack of a true eco mode to further help with fuel economy.
Overall the Kia Seltos SX Turbo AWD is a startbright yellow, not only in color but as a whole package. From the concept car styling cues, to the racing inspired seats, the Kia Seltos definitely ranks high in the want list.
