2024 Lexus LC500h Review: The Sensible 6-Figure Car
I get to review another Lexus LC500 which means it’s going to be a great week. This time it’s a 2024 LC500h which means I’ll have a hard top and a hybrid power plant. The Atomic Silver color is subtle on a design that’s anything but subtle. The big 21” wheels in gloss black metallic show off the six piston calipers with 2-piece brake rotors. I enjoyed manually deploying the optional rear spoiler but kept having trouble trying to figure out how to retract it.
Getting into the LC500h was an incredible experience. The previous convertible that I reviewed had a full red leather interior. This time around, I got to enjoy a Bespoke Build option of white and blue leather interior. I gotta say that I can look passed the constant need to clean the white leather because it look spectacular. Although it may be somewhat of a gimmick, the gauge cluster circle that moves left and right, was entertaining to play with. If you’re going to be traveling in the LC500h, make sure you pack light because the hybrid model shares the same smaller trunk as the convertible. The coupe with the V8 will be the choice you’ll need to go with, in order to get a deeper trunk capacity.
Lets talk about powertrain. When I had the previous LC500, I was making the V8 roar! With the 3.5L hybrid V6, it’ll be more like a purr, Don’t get me wrong, you’ll still feel like you’re going fast because the CVT will simulate the shifting of 10 gears extremely quick. I honestly tried my best to understand how the CVT works because its labeled as having an additional 4-speed standard automatic. Either way, it works well with the V6 hybrid to give you the sensation of speed. My choice? I’d go V8 if you want the orchestral sounds of eight cylinders signing all the way to redline.
Overall, it was unforgettable week driving around in the 2024 Lexus LC500h. If I had $100,000 spend on a LC500, I think I’d still go with the convertible with the V8.
