2021 Ford Expedition Limited Review: Iconic SUV

The 2021 Ford Expedition has been an iconic SUV since its late 90’s debut. When we received our loaner for the week, we were looking forward to seeing what the 4th generation had to offer. When it arrived, the Magnetic Metallic color kept attracting our attention. Although it is a gray color, it did hint at a muted green color when the sun hit it. The Limited trim offered some bling in the form of the some chrome accent pieces. The Texas Edition Package added the 22” wheels to show that everything is bigger in Texas.

The inside greeted you with a large amount go black leather. Even though the design of the three rows of seats were bland, they made up for it by being extremely comfortable. The gauge cluster had a mix of analog gauges and a big clear screen in the middle with important gauges needed during towing. The infotainment was someone uneventful but still offered the essentials. The B&O system did offer a great listening experience even with a wireless bluetooth connection.

Under the hood, the 3.5L EcoBoost V6 made the Expedition exciting. The 10-speed automatic transmission offered smooth shift that resembled a CVT transmission. The transmission also helps the EcoBoost stay in a great power band. Switch it to Sport mode and the the Expedition can get going! Set it to Eco mode and the V6 becomes extremely docile to help save MPGs.

Overall we felt that the 2021 Ford Expedition was good at everything, but not great at any one thing. Sometimes it is better to be a well rounded than specialized.
