Toyota Avalon TRD: Not Grandpa's Car
When I reviewed the 2020 Toyota Avalon TRD, I recalled my days in Florida where many grandpas drove the first generation. I’ve always considered the Toyota Avalon as the Camry plus. It’s reaching towards a Lexus but still rocking a Toyota badge up front.
The Avalon TRD is a little different though. It’s as if the TRD department decided to sneak an Avalon off the assembly line and decided to spice it up. Even though a TRD version was surprising, it made total sense when I drove it. It was as if the wolf in sheep’s clothing decided to shed the clothing and be a wolf.
Starting with the outside, the black aero kit makes the Avalon TRD stand out from the other trim levels. When you open the door and get in, you can see a boy racer approach to the styling with red accents on the seat stitching and the red seat belts. You press the start button and you can immediately hear the TRD exhaust come to life.
The Avalon name is more synonymous to blending into the crowd but the TRD model is the complete opposite and we love it for that! The loud in your face styling and sound make the Avalon TRD a huge favorite in our book.
