2024 Honda Prologue Review: GM builds a Honda

Although the 2024 Honda Prologue is a Honda badge vehicle, it actually is a Chevrolet Blazer EV underneath. Honda decided to go with a less aggressive exterior compared to the Blazer EV. The Pacific Blue Metallic color is the first thing that caught my attention and it offered a sense of a happy color. To go with the happy theme, the rounded fenders gave the Prologue a welcoming design. As if that didn’t get your attention, the 21-inch wheel design looked like clipart ice cream popsicles. The side profile offered a low and sleek roofline while simultaneously looking like it was equipped with a lift. This had me wanting a TrailSport variant of the Prologue.

We get inside and this Prologue was optioned out with the gray perforated leather. Paired up with the panoramic sunroof, and the interior felt extremely open and airy. I was in comfort sitting in traffic, thanks to the heated and vented seats that offered great support. Then I started having to deal with the more Chevrolet components of the Prologue and I started disliking my experience. Due to the poor performance of the headlights, I was wondering if I had them on at all. That’s when my journey began looking for where the light switch was located. I suddenly remembered that Chevrolet has been eliminating the light switches and integrating them into the infotainment screen. I also had an issue with some of the trim around the door handle that was starting to separate. The cup holders were virtually useless as the openings were too large to secure any regular water bottle. The backseat was very spacious with both legroom and headroom.

Under the hood, this Elite trimmed Prologue offered an AWD dual motor set up which delivers 288 horsepower and 333 lb.-ft. of torque. If you go with the FWD single motor, you’ll get 212 horsepower and 236 lb.-ft. of torque. Everyday drivability was great for city driving since you won’t get the crazy g-force acceleration that you’d expect in an EV and I was thankful for it. Unfortunately because of the lack of the typical EV power, I did experience highway passing to be a little more difficult to do. The suspension was very disappointing as it wasn’t absorbing the road but rather translating it to the chassis and then to the inside of the Prologue. As I was editing my video for the review, I could actually see myself being tossed around in my seat after hitting normally uneventful bumps in other cars.

Overall, I’d like to see Honda release a Honda based EV instead of what I experienced in this 2024 Honda Prologue. I like the styling but feel like it is lacking that spark you get with Honda vehicles. I would entertain a Prologue TrailSport model and even a gas powered model as well.
